The University of the West Indies (UWI) Arts Steel presents Showcase: Dancing on Steel – A Live Recording for PASIC 2024. The concert and live recording takes place at the historic Queen’s Hall on Sunday September 15, 2024 at 6 pm and will close off the twentieth anniversary celebrations of the UWI Arts Steel. Jessel Murray, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Creative and Festival Arts, will conduct Dr. Jeannine Remy’s celebrated work Dancing on Steel, performed with the UWI Arts Festival Dance Ensemble and augmented by guest performers.
Dancing on Steel was accepted as a 60-minute film to be screened at the prestigious Percussive Arts Society International Conference (PASIC) in November 2024. PASIC is billed as the world’s largest gathering of percussionists. Patrons are invited to be a part of this historic production which also includes other original works for steel orchestra conducted by UWI Lecturer Khion De Las.
